Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce BUSINESS EXCELLENCE EXPERT:
Michael A. Johndrow

Experience and Background

Michael A. JohndrowA native of New York State, Michael and his wife Jacqueline chose to make Warwick their home after Michael retired as Superintendent of Sullivan West Central School district in Sullivan County. The Johndrows raised their two children, Anthony and Nicole, in Lowville, NY up in Lewis County, where Michael was employed as a K-12 Principal at Copenhagen School. They relocated when Michael became a Superintendent, and resided in Callicoon for seven years. Michael was instrumental in merging three school districts during that time, building a new school while simultaneously renovating the older buildings as elementary and middle schools.

The Johndrows have been here now for two and a half years, and love it. Michael feels very fortunate to have been given the position of WVCC Executive Director in July of 2007 and marvels at the organization’s growing membership. Jacqueline has her own interior design consulting business, Romancing the Home, which is thriving here. She often reminds her husband that she was a member of the Chamber before he was. Michael has made major efforts to stress the word “valley” in that title – encompassing Greenwood Lake, Pine Island, Florida and Warwick – and the chamber is quickly gaining numbers as he strives to nurture and support the businesses here with new programs and events.

“I am overwhelmed with the support and enthusiasm that has greeted me since day one of this job. The small town, big presence venue is what my wife and I were originally attracted to and Warwick does not disappoint.”

The Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce was incorporated in 1939 as a nonprofit organization. The Chamber’s objective is to foster cooperative action towards advancing the common commercial, industrial, professional and civic interests of its members, inclusive of Florida, Greenwood Lake, Pine Island and Warwick in Orange County, New York.

We are a membership organization; a voluntary business association, which succeeds through a cooperative effort of all members working for the common benefit of all members and their communities. Accomplishments are due to the significant investment of time, skills and financial support of the members. In this manner, Chamber membership brings a “return on your investment”. The Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce is your public relations and information agent to residents, visitors, newcomers, businesses, organizations, and professional representatives.

The Chamber’s immediate goals as of 2008 are to promote “shopping local first” and attracting tourism through “branding” the Warwick Valley as a destination location.
